Our Philosophy

Having established the first wine bar in Cleveland – and very possibly the state – Market Avenue Wine Bar opened its doors in 1994 on a cobblestone street very reminiscent of days gone by. This congenial, Parisian-styled wine bar instantly became the fabric of Ohio City, lending itself to the transitional neighborhood as a cozy respite where city dwellers and suburbanites could enjoy cutting edge wines and delicious appetizers. It wasn’t for another 14 years before the wine bar had to vacate its home and relocate across the street. Entering its new location, you would swear that it’s been there for over a century. A long oak bar – elegantly bathed in soft lights – welcomes you to an experience for which your senses will forever thank you.

The wine list features over 75 wines by the glass and another 600 by the bottle…all strongly reflecting the small boutique producers from around the world. With an ever-changing wine list and an eclectic craft beer selection you are bound to find something pleasing and refreshing. In addition to the liquid libations you will be pleasantly enticed to sample the appetizers, all of which are procured from the finest food purveyors, including the West Side Market.

Before your senses return you from your Parisian experience be sure and check out the rear party room. Equally as cozy as the front, this room serves as a quieter alternative. And if you really want the room to yourself then see the staff about renting the room for private parties or business presentations.
